Manoffin Christmas Muffins

From Santa Bears to Sweet Dreams it’s the season to enjoy the delights of this year’s Christmas muffin designs from Manoffin! (All pics from the Manoffin website).

‘Snowman’ 스노우맨

The snowman with a marshmallow head looks deep in thought! We’ve had one day of snow so far this winter in Seoul which melted by the end of the day. But we could still have a white Christmas.

‘Star Tree’ 스타트리

Some people put up Christmas trees in their homes here in December – but only artificial trees. When I told a friend we had a real tree every Christmas when I was growing up in Britain, she was surprised – and immediately concerned about insects! I suppose it IS the only time of year that it’s not odd to bring a whole tree into the house! I’m not putting up a tree this year – artificial or real. Bah humbug. I will be content with a tree muffin instead…

‘Sweet Dream’ 스윗드림

We began this muffin tour with a couple of easily recognisable Christmas motifs – a snowman, a Christmas tree. Now the sleigh is flying in a more abstract direction. Stars? Snow? It’s a a mysteriously dreamy chocolate muffin wonderland for you to interpret as you will.

‘Poinsettia’ 포인세티아

Poinsettias are the quintessential Christmas plants and are everywhere in December adding some red Christmas cheer in department stores and cafes.

But hang on, I’m no plant expert but this looks more like holly to me.

Poinsettia have red leaves – well they should have anyway. I have two poinsettias in my flat which I bought last Christmas and they are looking disappointingly green right now. Apparently they need 14 hours of darkness every day for a couple of months before the leaves will even consider turning red.

On the other hand I’ve never seen holly here. Still the muffin looks good and I’ll be happy to eat it!

‘Merry Santa’ 메리산타

cream cheese muffin

Santa, I’m loving the hat. And the little nose. Oh, hello you adorable cream cheese muffin.

A Korean mum told me that when her kids were at kindergarten here in Seoul, the teacher told the parents that they had arranged for a Santa to come to school. So the parents had to buy one present for Santa to give to their child.

To make it fair, there was a size restriction so that the presents would look similar wrapped up. The dutiful mum followed the rule – buying an appropriately sized gift – only to discover that she was the ONLY one who did! And so when Santa arrived, all the other kids happily reached out to get their illegally HUMUNGOUS gifts.  In my opinion those other mums should have got a detention for breaking the rule. Happy Christmas!

‘Santa Bear’ 산타베어

You can never have enough Santas, that’s what I always say. And this time he’s a bear – but he’s a polar bear, you see. An intriguing maple muffin polar bear. I will be hanging up my stocking this year but I bet it will still be empty in the morning. 😟

‘Ginger Man’ 진저맨

cookies and cream muffin

The gingerbread man is made of chocolate. I absolutely love gingerbread and ginger in general. It’s used a lot for savoury and sweet dishes – there’s lots of ginger  in kimchi and in a variety of sweets like these  Korean maejakgwa snacks made with ginger .

snowflake  눈꽃송이

Last but not least, to complete the set here’s a chocolate muffin snowflake. Seasons Greetings!
