Parking on the Han River for Ladies Only!

Whenever I walk past this car park alongside the River Han in Seoul I always wonder at the thinking behind it. Most of the lines for spaces are painted white but there are sections in pink. Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions but reading between the lines ( 🙂 ) I am assuming that these spaces are specifically for ladies. But why do we need sections of parking spaces for ladies only? And no, before you ask, they are NOT wider than the other spaces. Cheeky.

So does this mean that the spaces with white lines are for ‘men only’?  In that case, shouldn’t they be painted blue with little blue men inside? Or are the white spaces  communal? Is a female driver obliged to park in the pink area or can she park in the white zone? If all the white spaces are full, can a male driver park in a pink space without causing a kerfuffle? Mind you, would a male driver really want to park in a pink zone – that’s a bit sissy isn’t it? So many questions. Luckily I don’t drive in Seoul, so I don’t have to worry about where to park!
