The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural festival is on next weekend with various events going on from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th October.

Celebrating its 48th anniversary this year, the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is one of the largest culture and tourism festivals in Korea. It preserves the spirit of Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, and commemorates the filial affection and innovations of King Jeongjo, who built the fortress.

Over the years, Hwaseong Cultural Festival has become established as a quintessential regional cultural festival that promotes the traditional culture and art of Suwon.

This year’s Hwaseong Cultural Festival will be jointly hosted by the cities of Suwon, Hwaseong and Osan as a means of re-instilling regional identity and regional community development in the three neighboring cities that share a common history.

This fall, you are cordially invited to Suwon, where the culture and art of the past and present are elegantly harmonized. Hwaseong Fortress as it was in the time of King Jeongjo’s reign will be recreated through a festival of tastes and sights for all visitors.
